description The cultural diversity expressed today in Veracruz is a reflection of the times prior to the arrival of the Europeans to our continent. Over the course of three millennia, the civilizations settled in our entity developed graphic codes that were similar to those of the rest of Mesoamerica, but with particularities worthy of consideration. This volume brings together a series of works included in books and journals or presented at academic meetings, and have in common the interpretation of Mesoamerican thought through graphic discourses that constitute true messages from our pre-Columbian ancestors. Olmecas, Tajin, Huasteca, and central cultures, through successive periods, are visited by an eye that seeks to provide the reader with the context that surrounded the transmitters. This reveals a message of yesteryear addressed to other interlocutors with forgotten references, with thoughts expressed through images captured in different formats and with a variety of techniques and styles. The revised images of mudstone or on the walls give a face to the collective imaginary that surrounded and produced these old designs, today visited under new eyes.
