Sumario: | This book is focused in the city dweller, the anonymous actors who live the consequences of the major decisions that affect their city and its buildings on a daily basis, and of which they have been alienated. In the 21st Century, thanks to tenacious pioneers such as Alexander, Turner and Jacobs, among others, it has come to be accepted, to a greater or lesser extent, that it is important to listen to the dweller; it is now time to explore the finer points, to define the ethics, processes and tools needed to counteract paternalistic actions or the manipulation that has been exercised under the disguise of participation, even to the point of oppressing the same voice that is intended to vindicate. Architecture and Participation gathers 18 professors, researchers and students from six universities in Latin America, Europe and Japan, around the theme of the participation of inhabitants in the shaping of their buildings, neighbourhoods and cities. From different approaches, visions, cultures and political approaches, the book moves from the definition of concepts to the exposition of experiences and strategies, seeking to approach the human and fraternal city that we have all imagined. |
