Sumario:The theoretical contributions on corruption in recent decades have made it possible to re-evaluate previous research, to achieve greater clarity on the problem and to reach certain points of agreement on the subject. It is now clear to the specialized doctrine that corruption is a persistent, multifaceted and complex problem. It is difficult to grasp and even more difficult to combat because it has many faces. For the problem of corruption it has also been suggested that education can be a way to prevent and fight it, but what happens if education has been captured by the phenomenon? Very simply, education becomes part of the problem, not part of the solution, and with it, we lose one of the most important and powerful allies in the fight against corruption. Hence the interest in addressing corruption, in trying to understand what academic corruption is and what are the features that characterize it in higher education. This book is about the "elephant in the room". It tries to leave myths behind, avoiding essentialist or determinist positions and recognizing that no human being is exempt from corruption and that no one is destined to be corrupt. It is a study that aims to clarify the concepts of corruption and to formulate a way of understanding academic corruption in Higher Education Institutions. A way that goes beyond the narrow limits of the law and considers the internal assets of the university's substantive functions.
