Descripción
Sumario:The Cuba of the sixties was a space of unprecedented cultural production and experimentation where radical hopes and new freedoms coexisted within new limits. This work captures the intensity of those years with an original approach to the work of El Puente (1961-1965), a semi-autonomous publishing house —of short duration given its autonomy and the homosexuality of many of its associates— which published experimental texts in the context of a revolution that validated the cultural capital of previously excluded Afro-Cubans, women, and young people. Alfonso analyses meticulously these dynamics and the poetry, fiction, and theater, with quotations from works that are difficult to access, and providing unpublished texts such as the apocryphal Manifesto Negro (Susan Lord).
