Descripción
Sumario:The set of works gathered in this book shows different sides of the history of Indian villages and subaltern groups in Mexico between the eighteenth and twentieth centuries. Through two transversal axes that highlight the territoriality and pluralism of possessory rights over land, as well as the conflict and the mechanisms of negotiation and resistance, the importance that the popular classes had in the construction of the pillars on which the State was erected is demonstrated. The contributions in this book highlight the multiple forms of conditioning, adaptation and participation of the so-called "subaltern groups" in the modernizing policies that have shaken the indigenous population and popular groups in Mexico at a pendulum-like pace since the end of the colonial period and up to contemporary times.
