Sumario:Couple love is a concept that has been with us throughout the history of the past centuries as one of themost signifying of human affections and emotions. It is so important and relevant that literature andphilosophy have produced unforgettable stories that have marked generations. In the XIX centuryromantic love reached its apex, and it continues to be transmitted as the ideal, in particular to women, andis perpetuated in western society with the consequent influence in thought and approaches to couplerelationships. This study was made using the qualitative methodology with the psychodynamic approach applied to aclinical case with a grieving young woman that concluded her couple relationship where the transition fromromantic love to a mature love can be appreciated. The process of romantic love demystification is shownin the results, which is wrongly understood as an idealized love, proposing an effective intervention totransition to mature love that also allows approaching future cases in which the matter of what love isquestioned, especially romantic love, and to show different perspectives of how to love without losingeverything, since in psychology, and especially in the clinical area, romantic love and breakups arefundamental subjects in therapy for adults and couple therapy
