El objetivo del texto es identificar cambios y permanencias en la administración de justicia en la provincia veracruzana a la luz de la introducción del proyecto modernizante de los Borbones a finales del siglo XVIII. Esto se realiza a partir del análisis de un par de expedientes judiciales ubicados en el ramo de Acordada del Archivo General de la Nación, que enfrentan jurisdiccionalmente a dos instituciones del gobierno local: los comisarios de la Acordada y los subdelegados.
