Sumario: | The major aim of this study is to learn about and enhance the work done by the bookseller and bookbinder Francisco de Guzmán at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of San Fernando, between 1779 and 1800. This work has been carried out by consulting the books of accounts and files of the Academy’s Archives as sources for the study and analysis in situ of the bindings reviewed in the documentation, which gave us theopportunity to better get to know the type of bindings ordered, their prices, materials and beneficiaries, and also helped us to better understand the history of the institution itself, as well as the guild of booksellers, printers and bookbinders in Madrid and, consequently, the society of Madrid at the time. |
