Sumario:This research report is part of a new line of research underway in Uruguay examining information behavior of students in the Library Science and Archival Information Degree Programs of the Institute of Information of the Faculty of Information and Communication (FIC) of the University of the Republic (Udelar). The research participates in the Macro Project titled “Information needs of the Library Science students enrolled in undergraduate degree programs in Mexico, Spain, Brazil and Uruguay” (2014-2016); and performs a comparative study of the programs offered in Mexico, Spain, Brazil and Uruguay. The target population is first- and final-year Library Science majors. This research report examines one of the phases carried out in Uruguay on the phenomena of needs satisfaction, which is the final stage of the model. Our approach takes into account the main theoretical-methodological benchmarks associated with information behavior research developed in Uruguay over the years by Udelar’s interdisciplinary teams (1992-2016); consequently, this background is addressed in the study.
