Este artículo presenta la experiencia que se llevó a cabo en el estado de Aguascalientes, como estrategia para reducir la brecha digital en sus diferentes estratos sociales y comunidades de los municipios. Se describen las etapas de la situación actual de estas entidades públicas en relación con su infraestructura, enlas competencias informativas y pedagógicas de los bibliotecarios para el desarrollo de la sociedad del conocimiento. Se analizan los resultados, entre los cuales se encontró que, desde la infraestructura existente, se cuenta con las condiciones para realizar un trabajo conveniente con la población; sin embargo, los bibliotecarios en general no cuentan del todo con las competencias para desarrollar esta labor.
