description | The article studies discrimination as a phenomenon and a social practice that limits access to human rights and key resources (such as information), as well as being expressed in social inequality, especially in certain groups, such as people with disabilities. To do this, it comprehensively examines seven cases in the information units, specifically two libraries and five museums. The case study method allows us to approach the phenomenon and through the administrative file tool, the registration, reading, description, standardization, analysis, synthesis and presentation of information is carried out. As part of the results, the following stand out: the violation of the right to non-discrimination; the importance of the principle and right to accessibility and information; the repeated complaint of discrimination on the grounds of disability; in addition to the opportunities for institutional change and improvement in terms of training, communication and inclusive language, as well as accessibility and security for the user. Undoubtedly, the study makes visible the task -still pending- in terms of social inclusion and the need to design -in a context of human rights- spaces, services and collections focused on people as users of information units. |
