Sumario:The objective of the paper is to presents information policies of the libraries of the local congresses of Mexico. As there is little literature regarding these information units, a second objective is to identify their personal, collections, areas and services. Through online surveys, questions are asked whether in each of the areas: services, collection management and human resources selection if they have an information policy that indicates them how they should be carried out these activities. The instrument is a questionnaire elaborated based on IFLA’s Parliamentary Library Guidelines. It is a quantitative and documentary research. The sample studied are seventeen libraries. It presents the information policies based on the areas and services that, according to IFLA, this type of library should have. The results obtained demonstrate that they do count with the explicit information policies at the institutional and organizational. It concludes that at the local level they also have information policies, but the present study does not verify if they are explicit.
