Sumario:For more than 20 years the National Human Rights Commission has been issuing recommendations to health institutions on human rights violations of patients treated by undergraduate and unsupervised medical students. However, the lack of monitoring is also a violation of the students' right to education, which must be guaranteed by the autonomous public universities. Thus, the public universities also have to supervise students at the medical units. It is necessary to regulate the teaching-care space, beyond trying to harmonize regulations for health and education institutions.
