Objective: To diagnose nutritional status and its relationship with depression in Nutrition students, enrolled in the period February/July 2020. Type of study: observational, cross-sectional, analytical, data was collected through a digital survey. Results: Depression was found both in students with malnutrition, overweight, obesity and students with normal nutritional status according to Body Mass Index (BMI), being the subjects with obesity those who presented severe depression. Conclusions: Depressive syndrome was present in most of students with different nutritional status classification, with a higher prevalence in women.

Investigaciones recientes reportan que la depresión y ansiedad van en aumento, 3 de cada 5 jóvenes mexicanos experimentan síntomas depresivos y 62% declaran tener algún tipo de ansiedad, estos padecimientos se relacionan con obesidad y sobrepeso, situación observada en otro estudio con estudiantes de licenciatura en nutrición de la Universidad Veracruzana. Objetivo: Diagnosticar estado de nutrición y su relación con depresión en estudiantes de Nutrición, inscritos en el periodo febrero-julio 2020.  Tipo de estudio: observacional, trasversal, analítico, se recolectaron datos a través de encuesta digital. Resultados: Se encontró depresión tanto en estudiantes con desnutrición, sobrepeso, obesidad y estudiantes con estado de nutrición normal de acuerdo con Índice de Masa Corporal (IMC), siendo los sujetos con obesidad los que presentaron depresión severa. Conclusiones: El síndrome depresivo estuvo presente en la mayoría de los estudiantes de diferente clasificación de estado nutricio, con mayor prevalencia en mujeres.
