Adenomatous hyperplasia of rete testis diagnosis on testicular biopsy for primary infertility: A case report

Adenomatous hyperplasia of rete testis is a rare non-neoplastic proliferation of rete testis epithelium. Mostly as an incidental finding in orchiectomy specimen for cryptorchidism and germ cell tumors. However, AHRT in testicular biopsies is rarely reported in the literature. The pathogenesis of AHR...

description Adenomatous hyperplasia of rete testis is a rare non-neoplastic proliferation of rete testis epithelium. Mostly as an incidental finding in orchiectomy specimen for cryptorchidism and germ cell tumors. However, AHRT in testicular biopsies is rarely reported in the literature. The pathogenesis of AHRT is not fully understood yet. AHRT usually arises near the mediastinum and septal portion of the rete testis. Herein, we report an interesting finding of AHRT in a testicular biopsy performed for infertility workup. Practicing pathologists must be aware of this entity and the differential diagnosis as it might pose a diagnostic challenge during histological evaluation.
