In Japan, pre-hospital administration by emergency life-saving technicians is not yet authorized, despite the fact that tranexamic acid was invented by Japanese scientists. In Japan, the need for the pre-hospital administration of tranexamic acid has been raised on several occasions, where a patient died from traumatic bleeding prior to hospital admission. This paper summarizes the evidence on the use of tranexamic acid in patients with traumatic bleeding, including new evidence on the intramuscular route. |
