description Psoriasis vulgaris is a systemic, chronic inflammatory disease affecting 2–3% of the population. Recent advances in the understanding of the pathophysiology of psoriatic disease have facilitated the development of novel therapeutic options with improved safety and efficacy. This article is coauthored by a patient with a lifelong history of psoriasis who experienced multiple treatment failures. He details his diagnosis and treatment experiences, as well as the physical, mental, and social ramifications of his skin condition. He then goes on to elaborate how evolutions in the treatment of psoriatic disease have impacted his life. This case is then discussed from the perspective of a dermatologist specializing in inflammatory skin disorders. We highlight the clinical features of psoriasis, its medical and psychosocial comorbidities, and the current landscape of psoriatic disease treatments.
