Sumario:Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is an autoimmune disease that has a wide range of manifestations and can affect nearly every organ system. Skin manifestations are a common finding in SLE. They are often photosensitive and can be exacerbated by exposure to ultraviolet light. Here, we discuss the case of a 34-year-old African American woman who presented with periorbital edema while 12 weeks pregnant. This case highlights the importance of avoiding sun exposure in patients with SLE and the challenge of treating SLE during pregnancy.
