Sumario: | Regarding the second lockdown during the Covid-19 pandemic, children in Germany were significantly less physically active. To counteract the more difficult opportunities to be physically active as a child, a digital sport- and exercise program was initiated. This approach focused on satisfying basic psychological needs and was aimed at children of primary school age. Furthermore, the focus lied on conveying the pleasure while exercising. Eight interviews (N = 8) were conducted with children aged 7–10 years (M = 8.38, SD = 1.19) five to six weeks after the start of the project. A girl, who also participated in the project, acted as the interviewer. The interviews were conducted digitally via Zoom. Using a qualitative content analysis, the results were first categorized and second analyzed using MAXQDA Analytics software. The children’s statements showed that especially the need for autonomy and competence could be satisfied. With regard to relatedness, the results were much more diverse. In particular, the support of relatedness was therefore only possible to a limited extent by means of this digital format. Notwithstanding this, all of the children reported that they had enjoyed to exercise also digitally. Finally, possible synergy effects with regard to linking analog and digital formats are discussed. |
