Malic Enzyme 1 as a Novel Anti‐Ferroptotic Regulator in Hepatic Ischemia/Reperfusion Injury (Adv. Sci. 13/2023)

Malic Enzyme 1 In article number 2205436, Xuexian Fang, Fudi Wang, and co‐workers discover Malic Enzyme 1 (ME1) as a novel ferroptosis inhibitory gene, which protects the liver function against ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) injury. The design is inspired by General Yue Fei (represents ME1), a national...

Sumario:Malic Enzyme 1 In article number 2205436, Xuexian Fang, Fudi Wang, and co‐workers discover Malic Enzyme 1 (ME1) as a novel ferroptosis inhibitory gene, which protects the liver function against ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) injury. The design is inspired by General Yue Fei (represents ME1), a national hero in the Song Dynasty (960‐1279) who accomplished great feats in many battles (represents ferroptosis‐induced liver injury during the process of I/R). This work provides a novel target and mechanistic insight into ferroptosis induced liver injury. [Image: see text]
