description Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) represents a multisystem disease that has caused a devastating global pandemic. The COVID-19 vaccine produced in response to the pandemic has been effective but can have side effects. One well-established condition is the reactivation of herpes zoster (HZ). Various risk factors increase the risk of HZ reactivation such as age, infections, and immunosuppressed states. HZ can have severe complications, including herpes zoster ophthalmicus and postherpetic neuralgia. Here, we present a unique case where a patient experienced HZ reactivation after both primary doses of the COVID-19 vaccine despite receiving early antiviral treatment.
