Sumario:Fabrication of optical fiber tapers is realized with a combination of plasmonic microheaters and specially designed structural bending of optical fibers, which provide the necessary elements of “heat and pull”. The resultant compactness and flame-free condition enable monitoring of the tapering process inside a scanning electron microscope.
