Sumario: | Pulmonary arteriovenous malformations are abnormal connections between a pulmonary artery and a pulmonary vein that can lead to ischemic stroke and brain abscess due to right-to-left shunting of blood. Embolization is currently considered the first treatment option for pulmonary arteriovenous malformations owing to its minimal invasiveness. This review updates the indications and techniques for the embolization of pulmonary arteriovenous malformations and determines the persistence of pulmonary arteriovenous malformations following embolization based on the most recent literature. |
