Sumario: | INTRODUCTION: Perianal mucinous adenocarcinoma is a tumor that is rarely seen by colorectal or even general surgeons. CASE PRESENTATION: Here we report a case of mucinous adenocarcinoma associated with chronic anal fistula in a 43 years old male patient. He underwent laparoscopic abdominoperineal resection and coverage with myocutaneous pedicled gracilis muscle flap. DISCUSSION: Most cases are related to chronic anal pathologies, such as anal fistulae; however, further studies are needed for a causation link to be made between the two conditions. Available literature shows that the optimal treatment of perianal mucinous adenocarcinoma is radical surgical resection combined with pre- or postoperative chemoradiotherapy. CONCLUSION: This case report is to highlight the rare incidence of mucinous adenocarcinoma in the perianal region. |
