Sumario:This case-control study compared the clinical profile, parasite load, polymerase chain reaction positivity, and response to therapy in patients with recurrent cutaneous leishmaniasis (RCL) with primary cutaneous leishmaniasis (CL). The RCL patients had milder diseases with lower parasite loads, a lower number of lesions, and more self-healing diseases than primary CL patients.
