description | Endoscopic radiofrequency ablation (RFA) has emerged as a minimally invasive treatment option in cases of malignant biliary obstruction, pancreatic cancer, and other pancreatic cystic neoplasms. Intraductal biliary RFA is safe, effective, and confers a survival advantage over stenting alone, where it should be used an adjunct to biliary stenting. Endoscopic ultrasound-guided RFA can also provide pancreatic cyst resolution in patients who are not ideal operative candidates. The aim of this review is to describe the endoscopic applications and associated outcomes of RFA. |
