description | For years, the impact of translators and their emotional characteristics on translation quality have been the main concern of scholars. That is, few studies have evaluated the role of translators' qualities on their professional performance. It is because most translation studies have focused on the linguistic and sociolinguistic determinants of translation quality. To highlight the consequences of translators' emotional characteristics on their professional performance, this study sought to review the role of translators’ emotional intelligence and anxiety on their translation quality. As evidenced by previous investigations, both emotional intelligence and anxiety can enormously affect the quality of translations. This review offers some takeaways for educators in translation studies as well as the translation educational system to make them cognizant of the role of emotional intelligence in translation quality. It also recommends some solutions to avoid the adverse effects of anxiety on translation quality. |
