Sumario:Atrial fibrillation (AF) is a prevalent and persistent irregular heart rhythm that is expected to dramatically increase in prevalence in the next few decades. Several established cardiovascular risk factors, including obesity, play a significant impact in developing AF. Obesity, characterized by a high body mass index (BMI), is particularly concerning as it directly elevates the risk of AF and other cardiovascular comorbidities. This review explores the complex interplay between obesity and AF, specifically highlighting the reversible nature of obesity-induced cardiac remodeling with weight loss. As we will soon discover, several insights from weight management offer promising strategies for AF prevention and management.
