Sumario:This article highlights recent developments of SPECT and PET diagnostic imaging surrogates for targeted alpha particle therapy (TAT) radiopharmaceuticals. It outlines the rationale for using imaging surrogates to improve diagnostic-scan accuracy and facilitate research, and the properties an imaging-surrogate candidate should possess. It evaluates the strengths and limitations of each potential imaging surrogate. Thirteen surrogates for TAT are explored: (133)La, (132)La, (134)Ce/(134)La, and (226)Ac for (225)Ac TAT; (203)Pb for (212)Pb TAT; (131)Ba for (223)Ra and (224)Ra TAT; (123)I, (124)I, (131)I and (209)At for (211)At TAT; (134)Ce/(134)La for (227)Th TAT; and (155)Tb and (152)Tb for (149)Tb TAT.
