description A team of Purdue University engineers and scientists has been involved in studying sources, translocation mechanisms, and fate of cadmium in the environment. One of the principal results of this work has been the development of a cadmium flow model for the U. S. which involves simulating sources, use patterns, waste treatment and recovery techniques, waste disposal options, and environmental flow mechanisms. A series of model calculations performed specify cadmium environmental flow, fate, and human exposure for a variety of use pattern, waste treatment/recovery, and disposal scenarios over a ten-year-simulation period.
