Sumario:The sodium and chloride retaining effect of suprarenal cortical extracts and of crystalline compounds derived from the suprarenal cortex parallels their effectiveness in maintaining suprarenalectomized dogs. All of the active compounds thus far studied produce a potassium diuresis when injected into normal dogs. The injection of a synthetic compound, desoxy-corticosterone acetate, produced in normal dogs a very marked sodium and chloride retention and a potassium diuresis. In a suprarenalectomized dog desoxy-corticosterone acetate was substituted successfully for suprarenal cortical extract.
