STUDIES ON THE ANTIGENIC PROPERTIES OF COMPLEMENT : II. ANALYSIS OF SPECIFIC AGGLUTININS AGAINST CERTAIN COMPONENTS OF GUINEA PIG COMPLEMENT FIXED ON SENSITIZED SHEEP ERYTHROCYTES

Sheep erythrocytes sensitized with amboceptor and persensitized thereafter with guinea pig complement are agglutinated by rabbit anti-guinea pig globulin and by immune sera obtained by injection of rabbits with fixed complement. In this agglutination neither C'1 nor C'2 takes part. Fixed C...

Sumario:Sheep erythrocytes sensitized with amboceptor and persensitized thereafter with guinea pig complement are agglutinated by rabbit anti-guinea pig globulin and by immune sera obtained by injection of rabbits with fixed complement. In this agglutination neither C'1 nor C'2 takes part. Fixed C'4 acts as an agglutinogen. An additional agglutinogen, distinct from C'4, was found on persensitized cells. This additional agglutinogen appears to be distinct from hemolytically active C'3.
