Sumario:Hypotheses previously used (Blair, 1932) in deriving formulae for stimulation by direct currents are applied to other forms of electrical stimuli. This consists in considering solutions of the equation See PDF for Structure. where p is assumed to represent the local excitatory process, V is the voltage of the stimulus and K and k are constants. The solutions are discussed in regard to condenser discharges, linearly rising currents, exponentially rising currents, and alternating currents. New experimental work with alternating currents of frequencies above 400 per second on the sciatic gastrocnemius of the frog is related to the formulae.
