Sumario:Periodic accelerations in the decreasing resistance of adult Drosophila (pure line) to the penetration of alcohol vapor are specifically paralleled by changes in the rate of accumulation of deaths in a life duration experiment with the same line. The necessary interpretation is that there occur under constant conditions periodic fluctuations in the speed of general metabolic events, marking the limits of what may be termed metabolic instars.
