PHOSPHORYLATION DUE TO THE OXIDATION OF SUCCINIC ACID BY CELL-FREE EXTRACTS OF ESCHERICHIA COLI
Esterification of inorganic phosphate accompanies the oxidation of succinic acid by cell-free extracts of E. coli. Inorganic phosphate appears to be an essential requirement for the dehydrogenation of the C(4)-dicarboxylic acid.
