A polymorphism in the CYP17 gene is associated with male breast cancer

The CYP17 gene codes for the cytochrome P450c17α enzyme that is involved in the synthesis of oestrogens. This case-control study from the South East of Scotland shows that a polymorphism of the CYP17 gene is associated with an increased risk of male breast cancer. © 1999 Cancer Research Campaign
