description The relationship between hypoalbuminaemia, tumour volume and C-reactive protein was examined in patients with colorectal liver metastases (n=57). On multiple regression analysis, albumin concentrations were independently associated with C-reactive protein (r=0.56, P<0.001) but not percentage hepatic replacement (P=0.34). These results show that hypoalbuminaemia is associated with the presence of a systemic inflammatory response rather than tumour volume in patients with colorectal liver metastases.
