description The McGill University Department of Oncology has changed and expanded since its inception in 1990, responding to the move to interdisciplinary clinical care, teaching, and research. Although the traditional Divisions have been maintained to correspond to University and Royal College interfaces, the department has steadily been generating a variety of cross-departmental and interdisciplinary programs in which new insights into clinical care and biology are being generated. In research areas ranging from psychosocial and fundamental to translational and clinical therapeutics, interdisciplinarity and an emphasis on clinician–scientists are critical features.
