description In spite of multiple problems, continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis is now an acceptable alternative treatment for end-stage renal failure. It is particularly suitable for the very old, the very young and the patient living a long distance from the centre, and it is the treatment of choice for diabetes mellitus prior to transplantation.
