In addition, IL-1 increases the synthesis of cyclooxygenase, as evidenced by the increased conversion of arachidonic acid into prostaglandins after fibroblasts are pre-incubated with IL-1. Evidence is also presented that fever is caused by interleukin-1-induced prostaglandin E2. |
