2-(4-Methoxyphenyl)phenanthro[9,10-d]imidazole methanol solvate

The title compound, C(22)H(16)N(2)O·CH(4)O, is a product of the condensation reaction between phenanthrenequinone and 4-methoxybenzadehyde. There are two imidazole molecules and two methanol molecules in the asymmetric unit. The phenanthryl and imidazole rings are almost parallel in both molecul...

description The title compound, C(22)H(16)N(2)O·CH(4)O, is a product of the condensation reaction between phenanthrenequinone and 4-methoxybenzadehyde. There are two imidazole molecules and two methanol molecules in the asymmetric unit. The phenanthryl and imidazole rings are almost parallel in both molecules, with interplanar angles of 6.65 (1) and 5.40 (3)°. The dihedral angles between the imidazole and the attached benzene rings are 5.40 (3) and 6.65 (1)° in the two molecules. Intermolecular O—H⋯N and N—H⋯O hydrogen bonds stabilize the crystal packing.
