Sumario:The title compound, C(22)H(20)N(2)O(2) (2+)·2ClO(4) (−), was synthesized by the reaction of naphthalene-2,6-diol with pyridine-4-carbaldehyde, 4-picolylamine and perchloric acid. There is a centre of symmetry at the mid-point of the central C—C bond of the cation. The two pyridine rings are parallel to each other, and the dihedral angle between the naphthalene ring system and the pyridine ring is 80.68 (11)°. All the bond lengths and angles are normal. Classical intermolecular O—H⋯O and N—H⋯O hydrogen bonds connect cations and anions, forming a one-dimensional chain structure.
