N-(2,6-Dimethylphenyl)-4-methylbenzamide

In the molecular structure of the title compound, C(16)H(17)NO, the two aromatic rings are close to orthogonal to each other [dihedral angle 78.8 (1)°], while the central –NH—C(=O)– amide core is nearly coplanar with the benzoyl ring, forming a dihedral angle of 3.5 (2)°. Intermolecular N—H⋯O hydr...

Intermolecular N—H⋯O hydrogen bonds in the crystal structure link the molecules into infinite chains running along the c axis of the crystal, and a C—H⋯O interaction also occurs.
