Diphenyl[2-(2-pyridylaminomethyl)phenyl]phosphine oxide

The title compound, C(24)H(21)N(2)OP, was obtained by reacting 2-aminopyridine and 2-(diphenylphosphinyl)benzaldehyde in ethanol. It crystallizes with two crystallographically independent molecules in the asymmetric unit. The aminopyridine units and the benzene ring bonded to the phosphine oxid...

description The title compound, C(24)H(21)N(2)OP, was obtained by reacting 2-aminopyridine and 2-(diphenylphosphinyl)benzaldehyde in ethanol. It crystallizes with two crystallographically independent molecules in the asymmetric unit. The aminopyridine units and the benzene ring bonded to the phosphine oxide P atom form dihedral angles of 88.58 (7) and 82.47 (9)° in the two molecules. The crystal structure displays strong N—H⋯O and weak C—H⋯O hydrogen bonds along the b axis and C—H⋯π aromatic intra- and intermolecular interactions.
