Sumario:The title polymeric compound, [Zn(C(8)H(5)Cl(2)O(3))(2)](n), was prepared by reaction of zinc(II) chloride with 2,4-dichloro­phenoxy­acetic acid and sodium hydroxide under hydro­thermal conditions. The Zn(II) atom is coordinated in a distorted tetra­hedral environment by four O atoms from four 2,4-dichloro­phenoxy­acetate ligands. Each ligand bridges two Zn(II) atoms, forming a polymeric chain along the a axis. Adjacent chains are connected via C—H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds.
