Sumario:In the title compound, [HgI(2)(C(8)H(8)N(2)S(2))], the Hg(II) atom is four-coordinated in a distorted tetra­hedral geometry by two N atoms from a 2,2′-dimethyl-4,4′-bithia­zole ligand and two I atoms. In the crystal structure, adjacent mol­ecules are connected by π–π contacts between the thia­zole rings [centroid–centroid distance = 3.591 (3) Å].
