In the title compound, C(19)H(13)NO(2), the pyridyl ring makes a dihedral angle of 87.04 (6)° with the plane of the phenanthrene ring system. In the crystal, molecules are linked through weak intermolecular C—H⋯O hydrogen bonds and C—H⋯π interactions.
