Bis[2-(4-hydroxyphenyl)acetato-κO]bis(1,10-phenanthroline-κ(2) N,N′)cadmium pentahydrate

In the title compound, [Cd(C(8)H(7)O(3))(2)(C(12)H(8)N(2))(2)]·5H(2)O, the Cd(II) ion is six-coordinated by two carboxylate O atoms of monodentate 2-(4-hydroxyphenyl)acetate ligands and by four N atoms from two chelating 1,10-phenantroline ligands in a distorted trigonal–prismatic geometry. O—H⋯O...

Sumario:In the title compound, [Cd(C(8)H(7)O(3))(2)(C(12)H(8)N(2))(2)]·5H(2)O, the Cd(II) ion is six-coordinated by two carboxylate O atoms of monodentate 2-(4-hydroxyphenyl)acetate ligands and by four N atoms from two chelating 1,10-phenantroline ligands in a distorted trigonal–prismatic geometry. O—H⋯O hydrogen bonds between water molecules and the complex molecules result in the formation of a three-dimensional network. Four water molecules act as single acceptors and double donors while the fifth water molecule is involved as a single acceptor and single donor in an O—H⋯O interaction and as a donor in an O—H⋯π interaction.
