Sumario:The crystal structure of the title complex, [Zn(C(7)H(6)NO(2)S)(2)(H(2)O)](n), consists of extended layers parallel to (001) with 2-(pyridin-4-ylsulfan­yl)acetate ligands bridging the Zn(II) atoms. The Zn(II) atom shows a distorted penta­gonal–bipyramidal coordination environment. The Zn(II) and one O atom are situated on a crystallographic twofold rotation axis. In the crystal, intra­layer O—H⋯O hydrogen-bond inter­actions help to consolidate the coordination layer.
