(E)-N′-(2-Chloro-5-nitrobenzylidene)-3-methoxybenzohydrazide monohydrate

In the hydrazone molecule of the title compound, C(15)H(12)ClN(3)O(4)·H(2)O, the two benzene rings form a dihedral angle of 3.6 (1)°. In the crystal structure, the solvent water molecules are involved in the formation of intermolecular N—H⋯O and O—H⋯N hydrogen bonds, which link the molecules int...

description In the hydrazone molecule of the title compound, C(15)H(12)ClN(3)O(4)·H(2)O, the two benzene rings form a dihedral angle of 3.6 (1)°. In the crystal structure, the solvent water molecules are involved in the formation of intermolecular N—H⋯O and O—H⋯N hydrogen bonds, which link the molecules into double ribbons extending along the b axis. Intermolecular π–π interactions between the aromatic rings [centroid–centroid distances = 3.712 (3) and 3.672 (3) Å] link these ribbons further into layers parallel to the ab plane.
